Let talk about Websites!

John R. Ramos • January 15, 2020
Although I have been in marketing for the last twenty years (…almost, not entirely), it has been only in the last six or seven years that I have been exposed more and more to the Digital Marketing world.

My services do include Digital Marketing solutions plus Email Marketing (…hence www.thejrsolutions.com), and as part of building my business, I am involved with quite a few Chambers of Commerce in the area where business networking is the norm.

Besides the networking component to get exposure, I am also a speaker or presenter in what I do best, Email Marketing coupled with Social Media and Digital Marketing. (…actually, Digital Marketing is an umbrella term for the above mentioned)

So, here is what I want to share with you…

Even in today’s marketplace, once in a while, I get asked, “Why do I need a website if I am only a small business?”
Here is my answer as to what I have seen in today’s business world.

Many small and medium business owners still do not believe that they will be able to earn more money if they have a website, or they consider the cost of creating it to be too large for the budget of a small company.   However, according to the survey Small Business website in 2018, 64% of small businesses do have their websites.

There are some very valid points to having a presence online.   Here are some that I would like to point out, but it does encompass the whole gamut.
  •  Promoting the business (…which goes along with creating a “brand,” which I covered in my branding.blog post).
  • Informative content about your products, services on a business website helps you gain customers’ respect and attention (…don’t forget building trust).   Your web resource demonstrates to your target audience why your business is better than others and promotes your company, ideas, products, and services.
  •  By adding a short company overview to the website, you can tell the world about who you are, what merits and experience you have in the field of your expertise.   And besides, you will have an e-mail address connected with your domain, which will be much more trustworthy than a regular email account.    You can share your ideas through a blog (..just like I am doing with you right now), it will lead to more confidence in your business.
  •  If you have salespeople out in the field (…or not), you will always be getting questions as to how you do this and that, creating content for your website. (…questions and answers are a great way to build credibility).  You can also post a testimonial from satisfying customers which may help you get more clients. Recommendations and opinions (…hopefully positive ones) will instill trust and confidence in your products or services. But even if some of those remarks are negative, that’s also an excellent opportunity to show the world how you can overcome those challenges by answering any negative comments and turning them into a positive outcome.
Whatever business you have, you do have the opportunity to demonstrate your achievements and the best projects on your website.  Show that your business is unique with a portfolio and real customer reviews, and your sales will increase with time. If you want your website to gain more customers, then it is better to hire a professional SEO specialist, as their knowledge and experience is not something that can be gained in a short time. (…it takes education and years of experience to do it right)

The advantages of creating a professional website for any company are much higher than described in this article. And there is no doubt that after you have your own website developed and put into business properly, you will discover all of them sooner or later.

In a recent post, I wrote about ten reasons a business needs an updated website. In this post, I would like to elaborate a little bit more as to why you should consider my suggestion(s). As an email marketing specialist and content writer for small to medium-sized businesses, I want to talk to you about something super important for your website: optimizing it for mobile devices. Nowadays, almost everyone uses their smartphones and tablets to browse the internet. That's why having a website that is mobile-friendly is so crucial. It provides a better user experience and can improve your search engine rankings, making it easier for potential customers to find your site. A responsive design is one way to ensure your website is mobile-friendly. . This means your site's layout and content automatically adjust to fit any device’s screen size. Pretty cool, right? Another way to optimize your site for mobile is by optimizing images. Large images can slow down your site's load time, which can be frustrating for mobile users. So, compress images and reduce their file size without sacrificing quality. Simplifying navigation is another crucial factor for mobile optimization. Use clear, concise labels for your menus, and make sure they're easy to access from any device. This can help mobile users find what they're looking for quickly and easily. Testing your website on multiple devices is also a good idea. This will help you identify any issues that must be addressed to ensure your site looks and functions nicely across all devices. Lastly, prioritize speed. Mobile users expect websites to load quickly, so minimizing the use of large images and videos, using browser caching, and compressing your code can all help reduce your site's load time. . So, there you have it! Optimizing your website for mobile devices is essential for providing a positive user experience, improving search engine rankings, and driving conversions and sales. As an email marketing specialist and content writer for small to medium-sized businesses, I encourage you to consider these tips and make sure your website is optimized for mobile. . Your competitors may have updated their websites, which can make your site look outdated in comparison. Updating your website can help to ensure that you stay competitive and that your business stays relevant in today's digital landscape.
